Targeted Support. Real Progress. Family Empowerment.
At ABA Academy, we believe that therapy should be as unique as your child. Our Direct Focused ABA Therapy offers an individualized, flexible, and family-centered approach to helping children develop essential skills and positive behaviors. Designed to fit into your busy life — whether you’re just starting ABA services, focusing on specific goals, or balancing insurance or funding — Direct Focused ABA puts you and your child at the center of everything we do.
What is Direct Focused ABA Therapy?
Direct Focused ABA is a short-term, goal-oriented service based on the science of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Instead of a full comprehensive program, we work intensively on one or two specific goals to create rapid, meaningful progress. Each session is customized to match your child’s strengths, challenges, and learning style. We combine evidence-based strategies with flexible delivery to build skills, independence, and confidence in a way that feels achievable and empowering for your whole family.
Benefits of Direct Focused ABA Therapy
1. Personalized Attention:
Every session is tailored specifically to your child’s needs, interests, and pace of learning.
2. Focused Goals:
Target specific skills such as communication, self-regulation, life skills (toileting, dressing, brushing teeth), or early learning.
3. Parent Training and Empowerment:
Parents are coached and supported to reinforce skills at home, maximizing your child’s progress.
4. Flexible and Accessible:
Designed to fit your family's schedule and lifestyle without the pressure of long-term, intensive programs.
5. Faster Results:
By focusing on a few high-priority goals, your child can make noticeable progress faster.
6. Affordable Options:
Ideal for families paying out of pocket, using private insurance, or accessing government funding (like OAP).
7. Support for Younger Children:
Especially effective for children under 5 who benefit from shorter, highly focused sessions.
8. Entry into ABA:
Perfect for families new to ABA who are waiting for full funding or who want a “soft start” before committing to a larger program.
Who is Direct Focused ABA Best For?
Families new to ABA who want to get started without waiting.
Families paying privately who want targeted, effective support.
Families with insurance coverage who need a flexible, easy-to-navigate option.
Families waiting for OAP (Ontario Autism Program) funding who want meaningful services now.
Parents who want hands-on training to continue helping their child outside of therapy.
Children needing support in specific areas like communication, self-regulation, daily living skills, or early social skills.
Funding and Coverage Options
We make it easy to access the services your child needs by supporting multiple funding options:
1. Ontario Autism Program (OAP)
If your family has access to OAP Childhood Budgets or Interim One-Time Funding, you can use your funding toward Direct Focused ABA. Our team can help you create the required documents (invoices, treatment plans) to submit for OAP reimbursement.
2. Private Insurance
Many insurance providers cover ABA therapy under "psychological services" or "behavioral therapy" benefits. We recommend checking your policy or speaking with your provider to understand your coverage.
Important Tip: Some insurance plans allow multiple family members to attend sessions (e.g., parents observing or participating for at least 15 minutes) — maximizing the benefit for your child and family.
3. Out-of-Pocket Payment
For families choosing to pay directly, we offer flexible pricing and session packages to make high-quality therapy as accessible as possible.
Need help navigating funding?
Our client care team is happy to guide you through the process — from checking insurance eligibility to helping you apply for OAP or submitting receipts for reimbursement.
What Does the Process Look Like?
We make getting started simple and supportive:
1. Initial Consultation
Meet with one of our clinicians to discuss your goals, needs, and child’s background. We’ll answer your questions and recommend a customized plan.
2. Intake and Assessment (Week 1–2)
Your child will complete a brief, friendly skills assessment. Our clinician will observe, interact, and gather information to build a personalized intervention plan.
3. Therapy Sessions Begin (Week 3+)
We review the intervention plan with you and get started! Each session focuses directly on your identified goals, using engaging, child-centered ABA strategies.
4. Ongoing Communication and Progress Summaries
After every session, you’ll receive a brief update on your child’s progress — keeping you involved and empowered every step of the way.
5. Formal Progress Update (Week 6/8)
You’ll receive a detailed progress report from our Clinical Director to review your child’s achievements and next steps. We’ll check in to make sure you’re satisfied and adjust the plan if needed.
6. Parent Training and Home Support
We coach you to use ABA strategies at home, turning daily routines into opportunities for growth and success.
